Civil Rights — My firm has a premier practice in the area of Civil Rights which involve fundamental issues of human rights and individual freedoms. I represent clients who, under federal or state law, have been victims of sexual harassment and discrimination based on age, disability, illness, national origin, sex, race, or religion—in employment, public accommodations, housing, education, or voting.
Constitutional Law — The United States Constitution governs the relationship between the Federal and state governments and between individuals and those governments. My colleagues and I are Constitutional law specialists with experience in understanding and applying appellate and Supreme Court decisions that interpret the Constitution and its Amendments in areas such as freedoms of speech, press, and religion; affirmative action and discrimination; eminent domain; voting rights; freedom of information; and even grand jury proceedings.
Discrimination — Many of my clients have been victims of discrimination in Housing, Public Accommodations (such as hotels, restaurants, and other places of business open to the public), Voting, Education, or Employment, based on their Race or skin color, National Origin or ethnicity, Religion or sincerely held religious beliefs or practices, Age of 40 or older, Sex or gender, Pregnancy or medical condition related to childbirth or pregnancy, Disability or perceived disability, or need to take Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) for their serious health condition; the serious health condition of their spouse, child, or parent; or the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of their child.
Employment Law — Employment law covers a complex network of laws that controls how employers must treat employees, former employees, and applicants for employment. I have significant experience in interpreting and construing state and federal statutes and case law in areas such as employment discrimination, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee benefits, whistleblower litigation, wrongful discharge, employment contracts, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), and special laws governing state and municipal employment.
Litigation and Appeals — My firm represents and advises clients who are or might become involved in a lawsuit or appeal as a result of personal injuries, employment claims, and contract disputes.
Workers’ Compensation — My colleagues and I represent employees who are injured on the job in claims for lost wages and medical expenses against private industry and federal, state, and local government employers and their insurance carriers. We handle issues dealing with defenses, fraud, subrogation, and appeals.
